An akroterion or acroterium or akroteria is an architectural ornament placed on a flat pedestal called the acroter or plinth, and mounted at the apex or corner of the pediment of a building in the classical style.

Ornamental sculptures or decorative elements placed upon the apex or corners of a classical pediment or roofline, commonly found in Greek and Roman architecture. The term derives from the Greek akroterion, meaning “summit” or “extremity.”
